Archive [02/01/2024] Introducing the “EVFX Paragon” Series

To all our fans, supporters, and patrons,

This is Andy from Dreams Circle. Today we are very excited to formally announce our new EVFX series:

The themes of the original EVFX series revolved around weapon-based attacks (for the most part). Building on that foundation, the EVFX Forge series focused on adding different magical elements. With this third series, we envisioned something that can both complement its predecessors, as well as stand on its own.

A paragon is defined as “someone regarded as a perfect example of a particular quality”. Using this as our inspiration, each entry of EVFX Paragon will be themed around a class/vocation/archetype found across RPGs and other games. For example, if we were to create a pack based on the “Warrior” archetype, the included effects might feature a variety of melee weapon attacks, utility-oriented abilities, and some buff/debuff skills.

We believe that this theme framework will offer us greater flexibility and creative space. Some of the more niche ideas and suggestions we’ve received that were difficult to design a full pack out of can now see the light of day.

Now, with the series introduction out of the way, let’s talk about the first paragon:

We envision the Spellblade to be a swordsman/swordswoman as well-versed in spells as they are with their blade, who becomes truly unstoppable with both combined. By enchanting their sword with various types of magic, the Spellblade can exploit elemental weaknesses of different foes, and are equally capable in a one-on-one duel, as they are fighting armies.

The reason why we arrived at Spellblade as the trailblazer for this new series is simple: “more swords”, “weapon attacks with elements”, etc., were some of the most popular feedback from our survey. Since EVFX Paragon would not have been conceived without hearing the demand from you, we want to make sure that we prioritize the most popular needs first.

To achieve the goal of complementing our previous works, there will be several variations for certain effect(s) in each EVFX Paragon entry. In Spellblade, for example, the Blade Enchantment animation comes with 5 color variations that will allow users to pair the elemental slashes from EVFX Forge packs with ease.

EVFX Paragon has also inherited the exceptionally well-received icon assets from the SummonFX series. In addition to the staple SFX, every EVFX Paragon effect also comes paired with an icon asset by default. Stylistically, these hand-crafted gems will fit right in with the existing icons in SummonFX packs, as well as those in the upcoming add-on icon packs for EVFX / EVFX Forge.

Without further ado, head over to EVFX Spellblade and check it out!

Warmest regards on behalf of all of us at
